Stripping

Industrial stripping

Industrial chemical stripping is an effective solution for cleaning or preparing metal parts without altering their dimensions or mechanical properties. It thoroughly removes unwanted contaminants (paint, oxides, grease, varnish, etc.) while preserving the geometry of even the most complex parts.

This method is particularly well-suited to the demands of industrial applications, where precision, repeatability, and surface quality are essential.

Our facility provides cleaning services for applications in chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, and vacuum technology. A team can also come to your site.

What is industrial chemical stripping?

Chemical stripping involves immersing metal parts in baths of specific chemical solutions, selected based on the type of metal being treated and the contaminants to be removed. Depending on the requirements, the process may include stripping, degreasing, and passivation to achieve a surface that is perfectly clean, stable, and protected against corrosion.

Unlike mechanical processes (sandblasting, shot blasting), thistreatment provides uniform results, even in hard-to-reach areas: cavities, threads, internal corners, parts with complex geometries, etc. With this process, you end up with a part that has a clean, uniform surface that is perfectly prepared for the next steps.

The steps in the industrial chemical stripping process

Metal surface treatment by chemical etching generally follows a well-defined protocol to ensure optimal results for your metal parts:

1 - Removal of fats and oils using solvents

2 - Rinse with water to remove cleaning residue

3 - Immersion of the part in the chemical stripping solution

4 - Maintain contact between the chemical stripper and the surface for the entire duration

5 - Complete removal of the stripping agent and reaction residues

6 - Application of a treatment to enhance corrosion resistance (passivation)

7 - Remove all traces of moisture to prevent new stains from forming

8 - Part Quality Control

Degreasing, pickling, and passivation: a controlled treatment process

Chemical stripping is an integral part of WIPELEC’s expertise in metal surface treatment. The sequence of these treatments ensures optimal and consistent quality across all parts.
